The adhesives have been used for years as a system to bond and seal materials.  We can trace the use of animal and vegetable adhesives back to the prehistoric times.
The first industrial glue plant of animal origin was established in the Netherlands in 1860, but the technology as regards adhesives did not make important advances until XX century when many natural adhesives were modified or replaced by synthetic materials in order to offer better resistance.  Since then, the adhesive technological development has never ended.
